The three major hidden risks of data centres (1) AI risk (2) Mt Fuji eruption risk (3) EMP risk - explanation and proposed responses.
Presented byIPCORE LAB, inc.
Data centres face more than 20 risks. This presentation will describe three risks that are not widely recognised by everyone, but are expected to cause enormous damage, and offer solutions. (1) AI consumes about 10 times more power than existing power. However, this is not a problem, and in 10-15 years a paradigm shift will occur and power consumption will be less than 1/10th. (2) Most external cooling systems will stop if Mt Fuji erupts next. Fuji erupts, most external cooling systems will shut down, and as a result, electronic equipment will also shut down. What will the data centres do? (3) Finally, there is the EMP. Solar flares can occur at any time. If an EMP occurs, all electronic equipment will shut down. These risks are the same as those of insurance, viz. (1) is a sure transition, but (2) and (3) are a gamble as to whether they will occur. If they do occur, you can say that they are unexpected or that they have been dealt with in advance.
