Automotive Cybersecurity
—Characteristics of Automotive Security Compared to Other Industries

A remote cyberattack that led to a vehicle recall raised awareness of cybersecurity in the automotive industry. In 2021, the United Nations regulation UN R-155 and ISO/SAE 21434 were established to enhance cybersecurity in the automotive industry. This presentation provides an overview of automotive cybersecurity regulations, threat trends, and introduces the technical challenges and strategic approaches necessary to ensure cyber resilience in the era of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).

Masumi Egawa

Joined DENSO in 1998 and engaged in the development of V2X communication devices. Responsible for analog circuits, digital circuits, communication protocols, security, application development, and V2X security standardization. Since 2016, has been leading teams in Japan, U.S., and Europe to contribute to the automotive industry from a cybersecurity perspective, working on security technology development, product/service development, and standardization activities.
