Thematic Seminar

Changes in awareness of isuues in derivative development and XDDP as a prescription.

It's been about 15 years since the book ‟Process improvement technology and secrets for successful derivative development" introduced XDDP widely. During this time, the position of software changed significantly to become a core entity of providing new value by ‟things”, and various changes are occuring in the efforts at the software development sites. With the transition of this era, haven't there been any changes in the problems of derivative development that XDDP has consistently solved, or in the developer's awareness of issues regarding such problems? Is there anything that should be changed in terms of how to apply the prescription XDDP and the scope of application? This time, we will return to the starting point of XDDP and discuss it again, we want to use this discussion as an opportunity to share the recognizing the role and potential of XDDP and awareness of the need for new guidelines.

Kengo Hayashi

He joined DENSO CORPORATION in 2003. Worked on software development of a driving support system using an ultrasonic sensor after software development of a navigation system. He leads the construction of the mechanism of the product line of the software with the aim of the multiple model development of the automobile. In 2007, he ran for an in-house pilot project of the derivative development process XDDP, and received a consultant from Dr. Yoshio Shimizu, where he devoted himself to learning the engineering of derivative development. After that, Keiji Kobata took part in a top-gun training program, which he organized, and with the guidance of Professor Mikio Aoyama of Nanzan University, he devoted himself to publishing papers at conferences in Japan and overseas. He received his Ph.D. in Software Engineering from Nanzan University in 2018. The research focuses on the architecture and process of combining agile and product line development to manage the development of multiple models.

Implemented system construction, policy planning and promotion activities across department to improve software quality and reduce rework centered on process improvement. As part of that, promoted activities to introduce and deploy XDDP in our organization from 2011 to 5 years. From 2020, active mainly in the development of younger generations and the activities of external study groups in the industry from the standpoint of retirement age reemployment.
