Rakuten Mobile's Next-generation Technology and Global Expansion

In April 2020, Rakuten Mobile launched full-scale commercial 4G service on the world’s first fully virtualized cloud native mobile network. This architecture has allowed us to realize overwhelming reductions in network construction and operation costs. In this lecture, we will introduce our initiatives in R&D on virtualized technology and edge cloud computing towards Beyond 5G, and explain our plans for the global expansion of our automated, Open RAN-based communications platform business.
