Generative AI's Impact on Autonomous Driving: Advanced AI Models for Real-World Perception

Generative AI, capable of making sophisticated decisions by leveraging multimodal data such as language (text) and vision (camera), along with generative world models that comprehend complex scenarios including physical laws and interactions between objects in the real world, is revolutionizing autonomous driving development. In this talk, we will introduce the forefront of autonomous driving AI development, featuring Turing's multimodal generative AI "Heron" and generative world model "Terra," and explore how these technologies are advancing the field.

CTO

Yu Yamaguchi

While conducting research at Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology, he began developing game AI using deep learning. He served as the lead developer for Japan's Go AI project, where he achieved distributed reinforcement learning with up to 1,100 GPUs, securing second place in an international Go AI competition and winning a world championship in Shogi AI. After serving as an executive officer at HEROZ Inc., he joined Turing Inc. as a founding member in 2022. He currently manages the development of autonomous driving AI and oversees the broader development of generative AI, including large language models (LLMs). He has been in his current role since August 2024. He holds a graduate degree from the University of Tokyo, Graduate School of Science.
