Agile in Manufacturing!
Promoting Agile by collaborating between dev teams and the promotion team.

It has been over 20 years since the "Manifesto for Agile Software Development" was introduced, and the term "Agile" is now widely used beyond software development. While Agile has spread across various industries, few traditional large companies, like those in manufacturing, actively practice it. As an Agile coach, I’ve worked with many manufacturing teams, where terms like "on-site" and "horizontal deployment" are frequently used. When adopting Agile, there are often two viewpoints: one where on-site teams are considered the most important and should be allowed to work freely, and another where a promotion team needs to first establish Agile standards for the entire company. Both perspectives are essential, but balancing them can be challenging. Since 2008, I have been involved in developing robot control software in the manufacturing industry. During that development process, I encountered Agile development and Scrum while exploring better development processes. Specifically, we adopted a process where we used simulators to gather feedback from users before the hardware was completed, allowing us to improve the software iteratively. With my Agile development experience in manufacturing, I sought to apply Agile in different environments and joined Creationline Inc. Since then, I have worked as an Agile coach, helping other companies adopt Agile. Currently, I serve as both the leader and Agile coach of the Agile CoE (Center of Excellence) team, which is composed of Agile coaches and Scrum Masters. I am also the organizer of a manufacturing-focused Agile study group.
