The communication between drivers and road users remains unchanged in the era of driverless cars and eHMI will take the role. Due to limitations in displaying text or symbols, interfaces using facial expressions are being researched, with the expectations of communication that transcends age and language barriers, and providing a secure feeling. Besides, the deformed and simplified eyes module has potential to become a new-generation signaling in the future. In this lecture, the verification results of possibilities and effects of Human-like light interface for visual communication between road users and driverless vehicles from field tests conducted in Sakai-town.
